KFC branch claims its new software can predict a customer’s order just by scanning their face

The cutting-edge technology bases the order on a customer's age, height, mood and their previous orders

A KFC branch claims it can predict a customer's order by simply scanning their face.

The super-smart software bases its choice on a consumer's age, mood and sex.

And it will even recognise the faces of those who have ordered before and choose their favourite grub.

The cutting-edge idea has been rolled out at a branch of the fried chicken shop in Beijing, China.

In a press release, it was explained that a young male customer is likely to order "a set meal of crispy chicken hamburger, roasted chicken wings and coke for lunch".

A middle-aged female customer might instead order "porridge and soybean milk for breakfast".

If the computer gets the order wrong, the customer can change their choice and type in their request manually.

But the high-tech system is not without its flaws.

Amy Hawkins, who tested the gimmick for The Guardian, said the computer had failed to remember her preferences when she ordered for a second time.

Nevertheless, KFC plans to introduce the cutting-edge gear to more than 5,000 of its branches across China.
