Around 30 minutes later, Julian Bracken, 18, was found dead on a railway track.

An inquest heard how Mayawati, known as Maya, and Julian both lived in the same house and are believed to be mother and son.

Following the horror, Thames Valley Police launched a murder probe and said they believed the deaths were linked.

Berkshire Coroner's Court heard officers were called to the A340 at around 5.45pm.

Mum-of-three Maya was given medical attention but sadly couldn't be saved and was declared dead shortly after.

Assistant coroner Alison McCormick said a provisional cause of death was recorded as "shock and haemorrhage" due to a stab wound to the chest.

At 6.15pm, police then discovered Julian on the track near Pangbourne station.

The student was pronounced dead at the scene on January 4 this year.

A post mortem gave his cause of death as "multiple injuries", the hearing was told.

Maya lived in a seven-bed £2.5million house in Pangbourne with her three children - a twin boy and girl and a second son.

Friends previously told how she would "do anything" for her kids.

One said: "She was a very nice and kind woman who absolutely loved her children.

"It's so unexpected as they are such a lovely family. She was our friend."

The coroner adjourned the full inquests until a later date.
