Aussie Hollywood star Nicole Kidman encourages Americans to stop slamming president-elect Donald Trump and get behind him instead

NICOLE Kidman thinks it's time Americans get behind President-elect Donald Trump.

The actress, who was born in Hawaii but raised in Australia, said it's time to let go and accept the results of the election.

Lefties across the world have been in a state of shock and disbelief since Trump won the presidential vote in November.

"I just say: He's now elected and we as a country need to support whoever is the President, because that's what the country is based on," Kidman revealed on the Victoria Derbyshire show.

The Oscar-winning Hollywood star made the comments in the closing stages of an interview her new film Lion, when asked about Trump.

She added: "That is what the country is based on. And however that happened, it happened, and let's go."

Kidman's opinion is at odds with many of her Hollywood colleagues who support the Democrat party.

After Meryl Streep made a politically charged speech against Trump at this year’s Golden Globes, the President-elect hit back.

He branded the award winning star “one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood” on social media.

 

Rallying to her defence, George Clooney, who is a Hillary Clinton supporter and also a former co-star if the Oscar winning star, spoke out at a reception he was hosting on Monday in LA.

he said sarcastically: “I’ve always said that about Meryl. She’s maybe the most overrated actress of all-time.”
