'INCREDIBLY LUCKY'

Woman miraculously cheats death twice after surviving 100ft cliff drop and almost drowning in Dorset sea

The faller survived after a photographer taking pictures of sunrise heard her desperate cries for help

A LIFEBOAT rescued a woman after she miraculously plunged 100ft off a sheer cliff and survived with just cuts and bruises.

The faller, in her 30s, is thought to have survived the horrific fall from the coastal beauty spot of Old Harry Rocks, Dorset, by landing in the sea.

Having suffered minor injuries, she was able to swim to the base of the cliff where she then cheated death a second time after becoming stranded and partially submerged by the incoming tide.
Landscape photographer Matthew Pinner, 25, heard the stranded woman’s desperate cries for help and called 999.

Mr Pinner, from Christchurch, said: "I arrived at Old Harry Rocks to take pictures of the sunrise and immediately heard someone screaming for from the bottom of the cliff.

"I tried calling out to her but she could only let out a pained scream for help.

"There was no way I could get down there so I called 999.

"I couldn't see her properly because of where she was but it didn't seem like she was moving.

"I called out to let her know we had called for help but I don't know if she heard because it was so windy.

"Not long after the lifeboats arrived and after about half an hour she was taken on board a boat and airlifted from there."

Mr Pinner, 25, added: "It is quite an isolated spot, especially at 7am, so she was incredibly lucky that we were there. It's not the kind of place anyone would usually be at the time.

"The tide was coming in and she was rescued just in time - if she was there much longer she would have been submerged."

The woman was saved by lifeboat crews, before being  hoisted into a helicopter and flown 30 miles to Southampton General Hospital.
