BEAM ME UP

Laser beams shoot down from the sky in MESMERISING and rare natural phenomenon

These incredible pictures reveal a wonder few of us are lucky enough to see in real life

The pictures were taken in Ontario, Canada by Timmy Joe Elzinga using his smartphone camera.

The light pillars are formed when moisture in the air freezes so quickly it appears stationary in the air rather than forming a cloud or floating down to the Earth's surface as snow.

That ice forms a perfect vessel for light to shoot straight into the sky, causing an incredible colour show.

Ice particles cause lots of mind-bending optical illusions in nature.
