Lord Snowdon was married to the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret, fathering two children with her – David Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley, and Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones.

The couple were together for 18 years after marrying at Westminster Abbey in 1960.

But their fiery marriage finally ended in 1978 after apparent troublesome times including frequent love affairs which began early on.

He married Lucy Lindsay-Hogg the same year, fathering one daughter – Lady Frances Armstrong-Jones – before divorcing her in 2000.

But the professional photographer – whose full name is Antony Charles Robert Armstrong-Jones – spent nearly two decades at the heart of the Royal Family.

Some of his most famous work included photographs of the Royals at work and play, iconic images of his ex-wife Princess Margaret and the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

He was one of the first on the scene after the Aberfan disaster in 1966.

The Queen later acknowledged that she “got it wrong” when she sent Lord Snowdon there rather than visiting herself.

The motorbike-riding celebrity photographer also made headlines throughout the years – often for controversial reasons.

He was dubbed the “first royal rebel” for his dislike of convention, and was the first real commoner to marry a king’s daughter for 450 years.
