Troubled England legend Paul Gascoigne seen for first time after checking into rehab
TROUBLED England legend Paul Gascoigne is “doing well” since checking into rehab.
Gazza, 49, has been snapped for the first time since he submitted himself for treatment for his alcoholism.
Appearing on the A1 Sporting Speakers Facebook page, the former Spurs and Newcastle midfielder is pictured advertising signed England shirts for £90.
His agent Terry Baker said: “He’s doing well. We have had over 200 offers of help for Paul.
"Thanks to all for your kindness and concern.
"They will be passed on but not whilst he is in rehab. He has to focus on the task in hand.
“Freda and I both speak to him several times a day and he is doing well and feeling pretty pleased with himself currently.”
Yesterday, Gazza led tributes to former England manager Graham Taylor, who died on Thursday.
He said: "I’m deeply sorry to hear about Graham Taylor. He will be a miss and his enthusiasm for life and football was incredible. My thoughts go out to his family."
Last month the former Lazio star was left with a fractured skull and 11 stitches after being kicked down flight of stairs at a London hotel.
He also revealed his dad has been diagnosed with cancer.
His agent said there was more news to come about the incident just days after Christmas.
He said: “Next week there will be news about the assault he suffered that kicked all of this off.
“There will be proof he was totally innocent and was viciously attacked from behind in an unprovoked incident.
“Hopefully there will be an announcement re the attacker as well.”
