Rivals Piers Morgan and Alastair Campbell hurl a string insults at each other in live cat-fight on ITV
Good Morning Britain presenter and the former spin-doctor pulled no punches as they scrapped over Donald Trump and Tony Blair
PIERS Morgan and Alastair Campbell got into a bitter fight this morning as they hurled insults at each other during a heated debate about Donald Trump.
The Good Morning Britain presenter and the former spin-doctor pulled no punches as they scrapped over Donald Trump and Tony Blair.
Mr Morgan was asked by host Robert Peston: "If you have a president elected on a platform of untruths, don't the rules of the game change for the media too?"
The former journalist then took the opportunity to have snipe at his co-star Mr Campbell, accusing him of "snarling" at him.
"Ask him about the fake photos Robert!" Mr Campbell replied, referring to his sacking from the Daily Mirror after publishing of a series of pictures of British soldiers abusing an Iraqi - which turned out to be false.
But Mr Morgan hit back: "Mate, I don't think you should get into fake material, should you? The great sexed-up dossier King... I heard you earlier talking about Trump being a narcissistic hawk - you should know buddy!"
He was referring to accusations that Mr Campbell, as Tony Blair's former press secretary, had played a part in the so-called "dodgy dossier" of 2003 which was presented to Parliament before the Iraq War.
"Four inquiries, four cleared Piers," Mr Campbell replied.

ITV viewers dug out the popcorn as the former spin-doctor explained that during a recent chat for GQ magazine, he had asked the Good Morning Britain host how big his ego was from one to ten.
"He said nine," Mr Campbell said. "I said, 'Trump, how big is his ego?' He said 10. That to me is the definition of narcissistic."
But Mr Morgan took another shot at the former Prime Minister and his friend: "What you didn't ask me is how big is Tony Blair's, which I would have said, 11. Let's get things in perspective..."
The pair continued their bickering online after their TV appearance.
Mr Campbell called him a "comic relief celeb apprentice [who] got fired. Again."
But Mr Morgan declared it was "game, set and match to Morgan".
And the viewers loved it, with many taking to Twitter to air their amusement.
Some called for the pair to have their own show, or at least a rematch between the two fierce rivals.
Mr Morgan had used his interview on ITV to defend Mr Trump's qualifications to be President, and suggested he could be a popular leader.
He told Mr Peston: "He's not the monster that people want him to be, he's not an angel. He's somewhere in between.
"But what he is at his heart is a pragmatic businessman, and he views politics like he views business.
"I guarantee you, if he can deliver on the economy and on jobs, if he can keep America safe , and deal with immigration. Then he will be an incredibly popular president."
