A WOMAN who had her foot amputated has set up an Instagram account for it after convincing doctors to let her keep it.
Kristi Loyall, 25, from Yukon in Oklahoma, USA, was told she would have to have her right foot cut off in order to save her life after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
But the brave young patient was determined not to let the horrific situation get her down.
Instead she resolved to laugh at her problem.
She told : "My first reaction was to make a joke of it, so I was like 'Hey can I have my foot back?'
"Then I realised I actually wanted my foot back."
Bemused doctors agreed to Kristi’s “unusual” request, handing over her severed body part in a biohazard bag around a month after the operation.
And when one of her friends suggested setting up a social media profile for it, she said she thought the idea was hilarious.
After sending the bones off to get cleaned, whitened and wired together, Kristi created the Instagram account One Foot Wander.
She now posts regular snaps of the foot in strange places or funny poses.
She said she takes it with her wherever she goes in case she has an idea of a picture to take.
Kristi explained: "Usually I keep it in a shoe box in my back pack.
"Most people when they see me taking pictures of it, I don't think they think it's real."
Her favourite photo so far is one of the foot with her dog, who she says has taken a keen interest in it, often trying to steal it when she leaves it unattended.
Kristi is going back to hospital for regular scans but has been told by doctors that she is cancer-free.
And with nearly 10,000 people now following the Instagram account, she has big dreams for it.
Kristi said: "Eventually I hope to travel the world with my foot.
"I've never been on an aeroplane. I don't know how that will work."
