I had a glass bottle smashed in my face in shock attack on night out… it was like a scene from a horror movie
Natalie was left with 'flesh hanging off her face'
A MUM had a glass bottle smashed into her face during a shocking attack on a night out.
Natalie Arthurs, 36, was hospitalised for three days with a “horror movie-like” deep slash to her cheek and shoulder after the assault in a Swansea bar.
The Army reservist was out with pals at nightspot Peppermint when Emily Williams, 25, flew into a rage – accusing Natalie of spilling her sister’s glass of wine.
Williams then launched into her frenzied assault when Natalie had gone to the toilets to touch-up her lipstick – leaving the helpless woman with “flesh hanging off my face and nose”.
Attacker Williams followed mum-of-one Natalie before smashing the bottle she was drinking out of and used it as a weapon.
Natalie, who felt like Williams “was trying to kill me”, was left with a 15cm slice to her shoulder, a 7cm cut on her cheek and wounds to her nose and neck.
Natalie told the court: “I was putting on lipstick in the mirror when I heard a voice with an angry tone shouting something like: ‘Who do you think you are?’
“I heard a glass smashing and I turned around and saw a woman with blonde hair and a glass in her hand.
“I saw the glass coming towards my face. It was all so quick. I felt something cold cutting into my face. I knew it was bad.
“I felt like someone was trying to kill me. There was such a sense of rage and anger in the person who did this.
“I can remember looking in the mirror on the wall as we struggled and seeing flesh hanging off my face and nose.
“There was blood everywhere like a scene from a horror movie.”
Natalie added: “It was a random, unprovoked attack done for no reason. This has changed my outlook on life.
“The memory of the assault is etched vividly on my mind.
“It was a scene from a horror movie. All I could think about is how scared my little girl would be.
“I spent three agonising days in hospital. The pain was unbearable.
Wicked beyond belief
Judge Huw Rees
“Every aspect of my life became demoralising and unbearable. Fifteen months on from the attack, I am still learning to live with what happened.”
Natalie has since had to leave her job after struggling with overwhelming anxiety and panic attacks.
Judge Huw Rees said that Williams became “increasingly more angry” and smashed the glass tumbler she was holding on the sink before attacking Natalie.
Sentencing, Judge Rees said: “What you did to someone who was a complete stranger and someone you had no prior argument with was wicked.
“Wicked beyond belief.
“The effect of what you have done is plain for all to see.”
He also said Williams’ account given to cops and the jury was “complete fabrication”.
Mum-of-two Williams was found guilty of wounding with intent.
She was jailed for five years for the horrific attack, which happened in November 2022, and also given a 10-year restraining order against Natalie.
