Huge fire erupts at Forest Gate police station with residents told to close windows as 175 firefighters tackle inferno
The cause of the fire is not yet known
A HUGE blaze erupted at a police station in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
Twenty fire engines and around 175 firefighters were tackling the inferno in Forest Gate, East London.

Part of the station, which has a custody suite, was alight - including its roof.
Prisoners were transferred to different stations and everyone was evacuated, said the Met Police.
Large plumes were suffocating the area with locals being advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
Police are not aware of anyone having been hurt by the flames.

Hours later, the flames were brought under control.
An investigation is underway to find the cause of the fire.
However cops say it is not being treated as suspicious.
London Fire Brigade said: "The Brigade was called at 16.17pm.

"Firefighters from Stratford, Leytonstone, Plaistow and surrounding fire stations are attending the scene.
"Three of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders and one of the Brigade's 64-metre turntable ladders are at the scene.
"Road closures are in place and people are advised to avoid the area while the incident is ongoing."
