Pokemon Go update is going to change the game FOREVER by ruining egg hatching, gamers fear
Catching 'em all just got a whole lot harder thanks to latest patch for wildly popular smartphone title
Anyone who's on a quest to catch 'em all will be absolutely distraught to hear that the next Pokemon Go update is going to totally change the way you play.
The update, which is due to land sometime today, may just make getting all the Pokemon completely impossible.
Since the game first launched back in July, Pokemon Go players have been on a quest to catch 'em all, with most of the rare Pokemon only found by hatching eggs.
But unfortunately, the little tricks most of the Poke pros have been using to help get them towards the end goal is just about to be wiped out.
In the recently revealed , one of the main things Pokemon Go creator Niantic has done is "changed distance tracking to better account for GPS drift".
Although that might sound like a weirdly specific and minor update, anyone who's been avidly playing Pokemon Go will know this is a MAJOR issue.
GPS Drift is where the satellites tracking your position get a little confused and can't quite work out where you are, which causes your character to jump around or move a little on-screen.
These drifts can actually add up over time and give you extra walking distance even though you haven't actually moved anywhere.
Although it's usually only 0.1km here and there, when the rarest Pokemon like Togepi are found in 10km eggs, every little helps - especially when you can't walk as much or as far as you'd like every day due to being stuck in offices and the like.
It also helps with the Buddy feature, which lets you walk with a specific Pokemon by your side to earn extra candy to evolve Pokemon without having to catch so many of the same type.
But Niantic's fix is trying to eliminate this helpful GPS drift is incredibly frustrating as it probably won't help the problems the app has with actually finding out what your location is.
It shouldn't be a huge deal, but there are plenty of Pokemon Go related frustrations that it would be better if Niantic focused its updates on bringing new features rather than fixing nice bonuses for players.
Thankfully it seems like there's a special Easter event for Pokemon Go inbound and we'd be incredibly surprised if there isn't some kind of Valentine's Day celebration in-game too.
