CITY OF HELL

Haiti’s capital ‘FALLS to Barbecue’s armed gangs’ as US marines deployed & bodies litter ‘world’s most dangerous city’

More than 360,000 Haitians - half of them being children - were internally displaced due to the violence engulfing the crumbling capital

HAITI's capital has all but fallen to armed gangs led by a vicious kingpin as rotting bodies litter the most dangerous city on earth.

With multiple embassies' staff being evacuated and the US marines now deployed, the once-picturesque Port-au-Prince has turned into a bloody warzone following days of gang-led violence.

As the Caribbean nation reels under a state of emergency, the US military said on Sunday it carried out an operation to airlift non-essential embassy personnel from the country and added US forces to bolster embassy security.

Members of several diplomatic missions, including staff from the United States and the German ambassador, began leaving Port-au-Prince on Sunday.

Haiti's capital has witnessed a long history of violence led by thugs and warlords.

Over 200 merciless armed gangs rule over up to 80 per cent of Haiti's capital inflicting terror, sexual violence, torture and lawlessness.

The most dangerous of them all is the so-called G9 coalition led by a warlord known as "Barbecue" - rumoured to have earned his nickname for setting his victims on fire.

For over two years, warring factions have torn the city apart and turned every day into a fight for survival.

But the latest outbreak of violence that started two weeks ago has seen unprecedented levels of attacks from armed gangs amid calls for Prime Minister Ariel Henry's resignation.

Thugs have been setting government buildings alight and burning down police stations.
