Julia said she preferred not to spend time with groping men, but the former newspaper editor told her to "come off it", adding a lot of British politicians would make Mr Trump "look like a shrinking violet".

Julia stated: "I'm not a big fan of men who sexually assault women and are proud of it. Call me old fashioned.

"This is a man who goes round grabbing women by the genitals and thinks it's OK."

Good Morning Britain presenter Piers hit back with: "Do stop being so pompous. You've spent most of your life working around the Houses of  Parliament. ..you've spent a lot of time with people in that environment who would make Trump look like a shrinking violet."

She then interrupted with: "Yes, but bizarrely no one has grabbed my p***y.

"I can absolutely assure you that in all my career in journalism and working around these horrific career politicians you talk about no one has behaved like that."

Piers then addressed claims Trump had been left reportedly snubbed his inauguration concert.

He said: "The idea that somehow any celebrity's opinions of Donald Trump right now has any meaning whatsoever given that Hillary Clinton wheeled them out every three minutes from Madonna to Cher.....and guess what? America voted for somebody else.

"Charlotte Church wanted us to believe that President-elect Donald Trump wanted her to perform. He's never even heard of Charlotte Church.

"He's the biggest star on the planet right now so why does he need others to prop him up?"

Piers also said it is time for world to stop 'mocking' and 'monstering' his close pal.

He added: "The guy's a businessman and he's filled the cabinet, not with career politicians or diplomats, but with some of the biggest deal-making killers and military leaders imaginable. It's an incredibly impressive array of people.

"Do not underestimate Trump, he's a brilliant delegator and he's a brilliant businessman. It's time to put aside all this mockery, abuse, treating him like a joke. The guy is, as of now, the most powerful man on Earth and it's in British interests to form a close relationship with him.

"I don't support things that I find personally offensive... [but] I take Trump on what he does. It's more prudent to give him an open mind."

In the first part of his interview, Morgan was quizzed as to why he won't be attending today's inauguration.

He replied "I don't need to. I'll go and see him at the White House, that'll be a lot more fun."
