PONCHO PUNCH-UP

Ex-President George W Bush spends Donald Trump’s inauguration hilariously battling with a poncho

Like him or loathe him, these pictures are guaranteed to raise a smile

EX-President George W. Bush was caught tussling with a poncho during Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony.

His painfully funny fight with the waterproof covering quickly became a hit on social media.

Countless clips of the 70-year-old going toe-to-toe with his plastic foe were posted throughout the day.

“The best thing I’ve seen from today’s inauguration was definitely George W Bush trying to figure out a rain poncho,” wrote one Twitter user.

“George W. Bush in a rain poncho was an image I didn’t know I needed,” another tweeted.

As the hilarious scene unfolded, former vice president Dick Cheney — like any good sidekick — jumped in to save the day and helped Bush wrestle the poncho out of his face and into submission.

People online couldn’t help but poke fun at the wacky pair and Bush’s unabashed behavior.

“Bush still looking for Iraq’s WMDs. Cheney knows they don’t exist,” joked one Twitter user.

Another wrote, “Cheney looks pleased at GWB’s poncho difficulties.”

Some said it was the "best part" of the inauguration as billionaire businessman Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States of America.

The internet also reacted with glee at a swathe of disapproving facial expressions Michelle Obama pulled while in the company of the Trump family during yesterday's inauguration.

Labelled "side-eye" and "serious stink-eye", her grimaces sparked dozens of internet memes claiming she was "inspiring" and "stoic".

She was seen grimacing first when she was handed a leaving present by incoming First Lady Melania Trump prior to the ceremony.

One person wrote: "Michelle Obama's face speaks for the world... in simple, what the f*** is going on here?"

Another said: "Melanie (sic) Trump giving Michelle Obama her speech back this morning" - a reference to claims Melania plagiarised a speech by Michelle during the campaign.
