Meghan Markle’s brother Tom begs for a second chance after gun arrest and wants an invite to the royal wedding… as he says ‘marriage and kids are on the cards’
THE brother of Meghan Markle has spoken for the first time about his gun arrest and begged: “Please still let me come to the royal wedding.”
Tom Markle Jr, 50, admitted drunkenly rowing with lover Darlene Blount, 36, but says he wants to learn from his boozy mistakes — just like Meghan’s boyfriend Prince Harry.
The window fitter, who has the same dad — Tom Sr — as actress Meghan, issued an apology to his half-sister.
Tom said: “Everyone makes mistakes. This time I made a bad one. But we all do.
“If I may say so, Prince Harry has made a few in his time and learnt from them. I just need the same chance.
“Marriage and kids is on the cards for Meghan and Harry and I still want to go to the wedding if they’ll let me.
“Of course I want to go to London and Buckingham Palace.
“Their relationship has been going from strength to strength and this drama is the last thing I wanted to happen.
“I want to tell Meghan I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart.
“The last thing I would ever want to do is put a black mark on her situation with the royals.”
Tom, his sister Samantha, 51, and Meghan, 35, grew up together in California. But they drifted apart after Meghan found TV stardom in US legal drama Suits.
He moved to Oregon for a fresh start and met Darlene at around the same time that Meghan began dating Harry.
The Sun on Sunday told last week how Tom was arrested by police after waving a gun at Darlene during a booze bender.
But he insisted that he did not put to the weapon to his girlfriend’s head. Tom recalled: “There was just the two of us having a good time with vodka, rum and beer. We had a bunch of shots too.
“We were watching a movie and got in a fight. It was really dumb. I can’t even remember what triggered it.
It just got out of hand — there was a lot of yelling. I told her to go to her parents’ house.
“Then I did the stupidest thing I could ever have done and went and got my handgun.
“But it was unloaded — there were no bullets in it.
“Darlene saw me with the gun, got scared and ran to the bathroom and wouldn’t come out.
“I absolutely did not put the gun to her head. She got freaked out even more than she had before.”
Darlene called the cops when she saw Tom brandishing the handgun.
Officers immediately forced Tom into the back of a patrol car and took him to a local jail where he had his mugshot taken.
