A TEEN who allegedly confessed to brutally murdering a nine-year-old boy after eating parts of his thigh and drinking his blood turned into a cannibal 'after watching crime shows on TV'.
Vikesh Kumar, 16, reportedly lured relative Deepu to his home by promising him string for a kite before cutting his body into six pieces, washing them then stuffing them into a sack.
He allegedly removed his heart and slung it by his school before dumping the bag and its gruesome contents just 50 yards from the child's home.
Local police in Ludhiana, India, say that Kumar, who 'had a craving for human flesh', was inspired by TV programmes and 'behaved normally' after the heinous crime.
Investigator Jatinder Singh said: “He behaved normally, as if nothing happened.
"He said he is fond of crime shows based on real-life incidents on television.
"He used to tell his parents that sometimes he feels like eating himself.
"He also had a craving for human flesh."
Deepu’s devastated dad Dalip has demanded Kumar is tried as an adult and revealed he fears his wife will die from shock if she finds out how her son died.
He told the Hindustan Times: "It was a heinous crime.
"He cut the body of my son into pieces. I will demand capital punishment.
"If the police are unable to punish him, they should hand him over to us.
"My wife Sangeeta is in shock.
"I have not told her about how our son was killed. I fear she will die if she comes to know of the brutality perpetrated on Deepu."
Deputy police commissioner Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said: “We will present the case in the best possible way to get maximum punishment.”
Kumar and Deepu were from distant relatives from poor families who migrated from Uttar Pradesh.
Kumar was a petty thief and in October made a hoax call to police claiming the private school he attended was 'illegally holding a child'.
He was expelled from Holy Heart Senior Secondary School two months ago after a series of incidents, including trying to burgle a temple.
It is believed he hated going to school and left his victim's heart near the grounds in a bid to have it closed.
