Obama looked as though as he had a lot on his mind as he drove around in a golf buggy at the ultra-exclusive Porcupine Creek Golf Club.

Dressed in a light blue polo shirt and baseball cap, the former President played 18 holes accompanied by a handful of secret service agents.

Thanks to a bill he signed in 2013, Obama will have a security detail for the rest of his life.

Previously, a law passed in 1977 only allowed for presidents to receive Secret Service protection for ten years after they left office.

Obama was seen laughing and joking with golfers at one point and even fist-bumped one after watching a great shot.

Obama is currently in the Palm Springs area on holiday after handing over power to President Donald Trump.

He and Michelle are staying at the mansion of Spanish ambassador James Costos and his husband, interior designer Michael Smith, in Rancho Mirage.

The 55-year-old was earlier spotted heading to the Thunderbird Country Club for an hour-long gym session.

Obama has played on the exclusive, invitation only golf course before.

In 2014 he was spotted there during another visit to the desert to meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan.

The course is owned by billionaire Larry Ellison.

It boasts an 18,400 sq ft main residence, eight guest houses, a pool, spa, gym and an amphitheater.

After Trump was sworn in on Friday, Obama said goodbye to the White House and boarded a helicopter for a "much needed" family holiday.
