US President Donald Trump will not ‘release his tax returns,’ White House staff confirm

Top White House adviser said Americans will be more concerned about their own taxes

DONALD Trump will not be releasing his tax returns, it was confirmed last night.

The new US President claimed he could not release the documents during the election campaign because he was being audited.

But White House advisor Kellyanne Conway revealed he won't be releasing the returns now he is in the Oval Office.

A petition for him to make them public has already garnered 200,000 signatures after being created on Friday.

But Ms Conway, speaking on ABC News, said: "The White House response is that he's not going to release his tax returns.

"We litigated this all through the election. People didn't care.

"They voted for him, and let me make this very clear - most Americans are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like."

Trump also revealed he will continue to use his personal Twitter account from the White House.

He has handed over his @POTUS (President of the United States) handle to an assistant.
