Raffaele Sollecito denies making sick Facebook jokes about Meredith Kercher’s murder death two years after he was cleared of killing her
The Italian who was cleared of murdering the Brit student along with ex girlfriend Amanda Knox denied referencing the killing in a private online chat
THE FORMER boyfriend of Amanda Knox has denied making sick Facebook jokes about the murder of British student Meredith Kercher.
Raffaele Sollecito served nearly four years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of the notorious 2007 killing and was released in 2015 after being exonerated by Italy’s most senior court.
His then-girlfriend Amanda Knox was also freed on appeal.
But he has now come under fire after a social media account baring his full name posted comments on a closed Facebook group, which feature jokes about murder and rape.
Among the posts which sparked outrage was a reply to a Facebook user who asked for a 'comment about being taught how to get away with murder'.
Mr Sollecito replied: “It's easy: s*** on it and nobody will come near [the scene]!”

His answer was seen by some as a reference to Meredith's murder scene, where human waste was found in the toilet.
However, Sollecito, 31, has denied any of the comments were connected to Meredith, saying he would “never drag her into it” and was just playing the “game of these groups”.
"I have my limits in my jokes, " he said.
Responding to his comment about the murder scene, he said: “Mine was a stupid answer to a stupid question."
Since his release from prison, Sollecito has maintained his status in the public eye, presenting a TV show about murder victims and also launching an app which is marketed as a 'a social network for graves'.
Sollecito and Knox, now 29, were originally convicted of murdering University of Leeds student Meredith, 21, in 2007.
She was found in an apartment in Perugia, Italy, which she shared with exchange student Knox.
Sollecito and Knox were eventually freed on appeal amid dramatic court scenes which made headlines around the world.
Rudy Guede, 31, is now serving life after being separately convicted of killing Meredith.
