Channel 4’s probe into behaviour of Russell Brand was ‘a whitewash’, blasts complainants
Brand was accused of rape, assault and emotional abuse after a joint investigation
CHANNEL 4’s probe into the behaviour of comedian Russell Brand was “a whitewash”, one of the complainants has blasted.
She made claims in 2009 after working with the star — which were ignored — and last year when the channel asked people to come forward.
Brand, 48, was accused of rape, assault and emotional abuse after a joint investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times, which he strongly denies.
But one woman who complained to Channel 4 told The Sunday Times: “I came forward hoping it would help bring about change.
“Instead, the process has been disempowering and exhausting.
“What Channel 4 management seem to care most about is covering their backs.
“I no longer believe they wanted to get to the bottom of what happened.
“It’s a whitewash.”
C4 said its inquiry found no evidence of knowledge within the channel of Brand’s alleged behaviour.
