Sickening moment tourist viciously slaps a monkey in the face after luring it in with food

FOOTAGE has emerged showing a cruel tourist lure a friendly monkey towards him with food - before slapping it hard in the face.

The langur monkey who is sitting in Mandore Gardens in Jodphur, India, spots the food offer and comes over.

But when it approaches it is whacked hard in the face.

The thug’s pals can be heard sniggering in the background as the monkey collapses backwards onto the floor.

Thousands of tourists flock to Mandore Gardens to come to see its memorials to Jodhpur's former rulers, known as dewals.

But the monkeys are also a famous resident.

The video was uploaded onto a YouTube comedy channel.

But Kieran Harkin, Head of International Animal Campaigns, Four Paws, is among those who don’t find the clip funny at all.

“This video shows a sad and shocking case of cruelty,” she told .

“The footage is both brutal and totally mindless.

“Sadly cruelty like this still occurs but it is important to spread the message that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable and barbaric.”

She added those hosting videos such as YouTube should take responsibility for content posted on their sites.
