Britain is under grave threat from political and religious extremists and conspiracy theorists
Cancel this lot
BRITAIN is a famously moderate, liberal country which values and upholds free speech. Well, it was once.
All of it is under grave threat from political and religious extremists and conspiracy theorists amplified 1,000-fold by social media.
Dame Sara Khan’s official probe into their destruction of social cohesion makes chilling reading.
More than three-quarters of us self-censor our opinions to avoid harassment, threats or “cancellation”. For some that can cost them their job or friends.

Valdo Calocane premeditated the Nottingham attacks and coldly amassed weapons. By any reasonable definition he then murdered Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates.
But thanks to his paranoid schizophrenia the charges were downgraded to manslaughter and Calocane is serving a much cushier sentence.
The report into the CPS conduct in this terrible case recommends three tiers of homicide offence: First and second-degree murder, plus manslaughter.
Calocane would have been convicted of second-degree murder and been given life in a proper prison.
The Law Commission recommended this shake-up 18 years ago and the Government should consider enacting it.
Anything to avoid the grotesque injustice these three victims’ families have suffered.
Lifesaver Kate
WITH one statement Princess Kate has done vastly more good than the sick trolls who target her will do in a lifetime.
Her courageous video message wasn’t solely to explain to the world that she had cancer.
It was written to inspire fellow sufferers — and encourage anyone with symptoms to get checked out without delay. And it worked spectacularly.

The numbers seeking advice soared instantly last Friday night and ever since. Some, inevitably, will end up owing their lives to Kate’s TV address.
Fantastic work, Princess. Get well soon.
