Women in Uniform is the Instagram account celebrating the female cops, firefighters and soldiers
The account has more than 5,000 followers and commends women from around the world
STRONG women who work in tough jobs to protect the public have been commended with an Instagram account to celebrate their efforts.
The Women in Uniform account recognises individuals who work in various roles, including the fire service, police and the army, from around the world.
It now has more than 5,000 followers and gives personal shout-outs to individuals who work in often dangerous environments.
Each snap - usually a selfie of the worker in her uniform - thanks them for their service.
One picture shows paramedic Nicole who managed to take a selfie during her fifth hour of a 12 hour shift.
The caption says: "...still looking gorgeous!! Thank you for your service."
Another snap of soldier Michelle says: "Thank you for your service and for sharing to this beautiful soldier @r.michelle__ stay safe out there".
Some of the pictures show the women off-duty and wearing their civvies as a comparison while others show them hard at work - including a firefighter learning how to cut open a car with hydraulic rescue tools.
Women are encouraged to get in touch and send their selfies directly to the account to get featured.
One female fighter in particular has garnered a lot of attention in her own right however.
Gunn Narten, 30, from Norway, has more than 51,000 followers on her Instagram account, where she shares pictures of herself hard at work, in the gym and on the beach.
She says people are surprised to learn she is a firefighter and even her own mother had never heard of women working in the force.
