Strike shame

THE greed of the strike-happy rail union Aslef is as jaw-dropping as its delusions.

Its train drivers have already been offered a bumper rise to £65,000 a year for a cushy four-day week.

But alone among the rail unions it wants more.

As ever, its militancy targets ordinary workers — as well as families on Easter breaks and, as we reveal today, the pub trade which loses millions each day the network is crippled.

Why Aslef leader Mick Whelan thinks the public back his wrecking tactics is beyond us.

They might think junior doctors merit a bung.

Not button-pushing rail drivers on twice the average wage.

But if the polls are right we will soon enter a new era of crippling union dominance.

Labour is already committed to handing these saboteurs sweeping powers, instantly making strikes easier.

One person to benefit will be Daniel Kebede, head of the NEU, who considers Britain “a brutally racist state”, wants to “globalise the Intifada” and now, depressingly, represents teachers.

Labour vows to end strikes by “getting round the table” — Labourspeak for “surrendering to our militant friends”.

For working people and businesses it is a chilling prospect.

A just cause

BRITAIN and the West must stand firm behind Israel once again.

The IDF’s killing of aid workers and their brave British guards was a horrific and reckless blunder.

Israel has admitted it and sacked those responsible.

But, as appalling as that terrible incident was, it is grimly inevitable that civilians become casualties in wars.

Israel did not start this one. And those tragic deaths do not weaken its clear moral case for ridding Gaza of Hamas.

The very worst outcome would be this genocidal racist group staying in place.

That would mean lifelong hardship for Gazans, whom the Islamist butchers use as human shields, and continued terror for Israelis from rocket attacks and further atrocities like October 7.

The West is wobbling exactly as Hamas wanted and predicted.

Calls to end our already negligible arms sales to Tel Aviv are part of a left-wing campaign to destroy Israel’s international support and deny its right to defend itself.

These voices never urge Hamas to end the violence instantly by freeing their Jewish hostages and surrendering.

We all know why.
