Cops hunting two men in a white van after attempted abduction of girl
Mum says she is terrified to let her daughter go out as police launch investigation
COPS are hunting two men in a white van following the attempted abduction of a 15-year-old girl.
A mum has said the men pestered her teenage daughter before trying to snatch her off the street.
She said the adults were angrily confronted and escaped in a white van, between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Monday.
“I’m just constantly looking around and feeling really, really terrified,” admitted the mum from Hardwick, who is in her 30s.
“She wants to go out tonight but I don’t want her to as anything could happen.
“I might be totally jumping the gun but I think the worst is going to happen all the time and for something like this to happen is every parent’s worst nightmare.”
The mum said her daughter and a friend had been going to Frando’s restaurant in Stockton to meet friends when they were approached.
Two men started making inappropriate comments including “you are beautiful, do you want to come somewhere?”.
The mum added: “They then put their arms around them after coming up behind them and asked if there was anywhere they could go together.”
Feeling threatened, the quick-thinking youngsters told them to go to Frando’s knowing there would be friends waiting.
Upon arriving, male friends confronted the men, who the teenager told police could have been as old as 25.
As they were being chased off a white van pulled up and the two men dived in before escaping.
The teenager claimed one was wearing a Durham University hoody, while one had a Birmingham accent and another was described as having a “southern” twang.
Cleveland Police confirmed it had received a report and the incident has been logged as an attempted abduction.
A force spokeswoman said an investigation is ongoing.
The worried mum added: “It is disgusting something like this could happen and I just want to make other people aware.”
