A MAN has been charged over the alleged assault on singer Michelle McManus.
Michelle, 36, from Glasgow, who won Pop Idol in 2003, was reportedly attacked in the early hours of last Sunday on Pollokshaws Road, Shawlands, and suffered an injured jaw.
Police Scotland confirmed a 39-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal.
The singer told her fans online about the alleged assault last week and said she had been left shaken up.
She praised the police over the investigation, which has now seen a man charged with the alleged assault.
Michelle - who also hosts a radio show in Scotland - is set to get married later this year.

The star made the revelation during an appearance on Lorraine, joking that she will go all out to make sure she is sporting a slimmer figure in time for her big day.
She said: "Everyone wants to lose weight, everybody wants to look the best they can look...
"The weight thing was such a big deal, I've been up and I've been down, I've lost weight and I've gained weight.
"It will always be a part of me - even if I was to lose all the weight and become a skinny minny - it would still be there - it's become part of me almost..."
Last year she also opened up about her “shattering” experience of meeting Will Young - who she claims completely blanked her.
She won Pop Idol the year after Will won the first series.
