A BRAZEN thief bagged himself a £330 refund in Aldi - for a TV he had just picked off the shelf.

The man walked into the discount supermarket on Wragby Road, Lincoln on January 2 and grabbed the box from the shop floor.

He then walked to a till and asked the cashier for a refund for the Bauhn 49ins Smart TV but was directed to speak to the manager when he revealed he didn't have a receipt.

He shook hands with the manager before returning to the till, leading the cashier into believing he was fine to issue a refund.

The man was then refunded £329.99 for the TV which he had not bought.

CCTV images have been released by Lincolnshire Police of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

A spokesman said:"A man walked into this supermarket and picked up a boxed television on the shop floor.

"He then walked straight to one of the tills and asked the cashier for a refund without a receipt.

"The man then leaves the till to speak with the manager, shakes his hand and returns to the cashier who believed permission had been given for a refund.

"The man received £329.99 and left the store.

"We are looking to speak with this man seen on CCTV as we believe may be able to assist our enquiries.

"If this is you, or you recognise this person, please call 101 quoting 'incident 324' of January 2. To report anonymously please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."

A man stole £40,000 worth of designer watches in a similar scam last year.

He struck two luxury jewellery stores by posing as a customer before running out of the shop with the extortionate timepieces still on his wrist.

Last month another brazen thief was caught on camera nicking a woman's purse from her handbag while her back was turned just days before Christmas.

The fraudster struck as the pensioner was shopping in Iceland and didn't realise her purse was missing until she went to pay for her shopping at the till.
