AN acid attack survivor left scarred for life in a horrifying road rage assault three years ago has said he is still haunted by the unprovoked violence.
Innocent Darren Pidgeon, 29, suffered “excruciating” burns to his face and shoulder while he was cornered in his car.
Today the 29-year-old recalled feeling his face melt, telling Jeremy Kyle: “Every day I think of it.”
Ashley Russell, 30, and Christina Storey, 32, were jailed for a total of 20 years for the attack.
Dad Darren spent 24 days in hospital following the attack, requiring skin grafts to repair third degree burns caused by “extreme” acid.
Darren told Jeremy Kyle’s Emergency Room: “It does cause me pain, I have these sharp feelings under my skin.”
He added: “I didn’t know the people, think I might have cut them up at the roundabout. I heard a door slam, they got out and one them started spraying me. I didn’t know what it was, I never knew.”
The former care worker said at the time of the court case: “I could feel it straight away, it was hurting, it was really hurting.
“I could feel it on my skin, I could feel it was burning. I have never felt anything like it before.”
A doctor on the shows said: “It quite literally melts you, and goes into so many layers of the face.”
The court heard how Russell and Storey didn’t know Mr Pidgeon and had only come across each other at a set of traffic lights near Thundersley, Essex, where both were waiting to move.
Moments earlier, Mr Pidgeon was approaching a roundabout when Storey pulled in front of him.
Storey then followed Mr Pidgeon, where she boxed him in before approaching his car.
