Misjudged

JUDGES are supposed to interpret and uphold laws — not make them.

Democracy does not mean having an unelected and unaccountable judiciary deciding how we should live our lives.

The unelected judges within the European Court of Human Rights are trying to force their will on European democracies

The creeping overreach of judges both at home and especially in Europe is alarming.

Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho is rightly concerned about a European court deciding Switzerland’s climate change policies violate fundamental human rights.

Eco activists — inevitably supported by Greta Thunberg — had claimed 30 countries were failing to protect citizens from flooding and heatwaves.

Astonishingly, the ECHR judges suggested actions by democratic governments were not enough.

Apparently, only intervention by the courts could fully ensure people are protected.

We should be deeply alarmed by what amounts to a kind of judicial activism which serves only to encourage eco fanatics to launch endless legal challenges to every Government scheme.

It is for elected politicians to make decisions — and suffer the electoral consequences if they get it wrong.

Trans bravery

WITH courage and honesty, Dr Hilary Cass has methodically dismantled a decade of dangerous trans dogma.

Her landmark report represents a watershed in the toxic trans debate.

Americans may face monthly 'climate tax' in single state - but if you fall under four criteria you may be exempt

The Cass review shows how Governments have allowed a harmful ideology to flourish in the NHS for far too long.

But where does it all leave Labour?

For years, the Left has aggressively pushed the trans agenda, helping to prop up the kind of blind doctrine that pumped vulnerable and mentally unwell kids full of puberty blockers.

Sir Keir Starmer wants to bring in laws to make it easier to change gender.

Shadow Health Minister Wes Streeting should be applauded for admitting to The Sun he has been wrong on some trans isssues in the past, and pledging to ensure NHS trusts cooperate with the Cass review.

This is a defining moment for the treatment of often troubled children who have been appallingly let down.

We must not go backwards.

Rotten Apple

THE online giants who rule so much of our lives are increasingly falling victim to a virus — of the woke mind kind.

Apple’s software upgrade automatically offering the Palestinian flag emoji when users type in the name of Israel’s capital Jerusalem is just the latest example.

It’s routine to find a Left-wing news agenda being pushed by the algorithms designed in Silicon Valley.

For all the official denials of bias, the proof is in the Apple pudding.
