Brit tourist, 23, killed in Tenerife after ‘trying to run across busy motorway & climb across barrier’ at holiday resort
A BRITISH tourist has been killed in Tenerife after reportedly trying to run across a busy motorway.
The 23-year-old was tragically killed in the early hours of Saturday morning as cops say he was trying to cross the motorway after climbing over the safety barriers.
The emergency services were informed of the tragedy at 4am this morning when they were told a young man had been run over.
Reports say he was hit by a car while trying to cross the TF-1 highway near the municipality of Adeje, in the south of Tenerife.
Two ambulances rushed to the scene as well as the fire brigade, Civil Guard and staff from the island government's road maintenance service.
A spokesperson said: "Once there, the SUC personnel verified that the victim had injuries incompatible with his life and confirmed his death."

An official statement from the 112 emergency services confirmed: "A young man has died in a crash in Tenerife. It happened on the TF-1, at PK 80, in the municipality of Adeje at 4am today.
"A male, aged 23 and of English national, deceased. Services activated by CECOES 1 1 2 were the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), a medicalised ambulance and basic life support ambulance, plus Tenerife Firefighters Consortium and the Civil Guard.
"The SUC personnel confirmed that the affected person had injuries incompatible with his life and confirmed his death."
The municipality is split in two by the often packed motorway.
