Prince Charles seen as ‘serious risk’ during Donald Trump UK visit over strong views on climate change

PRINCE Charles is being viewed as a “serious risk factor” when Donald Trump arrives in Britain for his state visit, it was revealed yesterday.

Senior Government officials fear the Prince of Wales – an environmental campaigner – will challenge the US President over his views on climate change.

American advisers want Mr Trump to meet Prince William and Harry instead to avoid any awkward moments.

But Royal sources insisted Prince Charles – who has penned a recent book on climate change – was “relaxed” about meeting the US President.

Typically on a state visit the Prince of Wales would meet guests at their hotel and travel with them to Horse Guards Parade before a carriage is taken to Buckingham Palace.

He often has a cup of tea and a chat with visiting dignitaries at Clarence House – although he didn’t when President Obama visited last year.

Last week Donald Trump’s top team ordered all mentions of climate change and global warming to be removed from the White House website only days after he took office.

The website’s climate change page contained links to scientific global warming research plus detailed data on emissions.

The US president has previously said the concept of global warming was dreamt up by the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing “non-competitive”.
