Married police chief, 41, charged with gross misconduct over ‘affair’ with rookie female cop, 24, under his command
Howarth appeared in court on April 2 over her links to a jailed drugs kingpin
A MARRIED senior police officer has been charged with gross misconduct over an alleged affair with a rookie under his command.
Chief Supt Daniel Greenwood, 41, was suspended in 2021 when an investigation began into his relationship with PC Caitlin Howarth, 24.
It has now concluded and Greenwood faces the sack from West Yorkshire Police at a misconduct hearing later this year.
Howarth, who was also suspended, appeared in court on April 2 over her links to a jailed drugs kingpin.
He is currently serving a hefty prison sentence for supplying heroin.
It is alleged she failed to notify her superiors at West Yorkshire Police of her links to the Mr Big.
The officer, who has more than 10,000 Instagram followers, was charged with misconduct in a public office at York crown court.
She has not entered a plea and remains suspended by the force.
Her trial is due to begin in February.
A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Proceedings under the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020 have been served on the officer.
“The matter is ongoing and the officer remains suspended from duty.”
