Shocking moment brave hijab-wearing Muslim-American woman is branded a ‘b*****’ by man and asked if she has a green card
A VIDEO of a Muslim-American woman being called a "b****" by a white man in a coffee shop has gone viral.
Asma Elhuni, who wears a hijab headdress, was sitting calmly at a table inside Joe's Coffee Shop located in East Atlanta Village, in the US on Saturday when the man, who has been identified by news outlets as Rob Koehler, is said to have taken a photo of her.
Elhuni says she was working on her computer when he allegedly took the snap, and told she looked up and saw him aiming his phone at her.
She started recording the man who has been named as Koehler and asked him: "Hi Rob, you like taking pictures? You like taking pictures of me in particular?"
He then laughs and asks "are you getting offended?"
Elhuni responded she wasn't, and added she was curious as to why he was taking photos of her.
He then laughs while standing in front of her and says: "that's a good question".
Elhuni, 39, is a Georgia State University political science graduate student, and also works as a legislative intern for State Rep. Brenda Lopez.
She can then be heard saying: "This is Rob from Atlanta," but the man says he isn't and is actually from Detroit, and asks: "Why are you so uptight, yeah, what's got you off-kilter?'
She says: "I'd like to know why you're coming in here taking a picture of me."
Rob, who has now sat down tells her: "I'm standing in a coffee shop, which I thought was interesting.
"I see this guy sitting here looks like he's the DJ, and I thought it was a really chill place, so being from Detroit I took a shot of the coffee shop and that guy sitting there, who's obviously not the DJ, and we were going to have a laugh.
"I was going to share that on Facebook. And then you started acting like a b****."
Elhuni asks him: "so now I'm a b****?", to which responds, "yes you are".
She then asks again: "Because I asked you why you're taking a picture of me, I'm a b****?"
Rob says: "very nice to meet you."
Elhuni tasks Rob what his job is and he responds, "do you have a green card?"
She says slightly stunned, "So you think I'm not American?"
The video was posted on and it has been viewed over 1.3 million times.
