Official Illuminati Facebook page verified in bizarre endorsement of ‘elite cult which runs the world’
A FABLED secret society believed to be secretly running the world has been authenticated by Facebook.
An organisation claiming to be the Illuminati has been given a little blue tick on the social network - which is the modern day equivalent of an official branding logo.
It made the announcement to its members over the weekend, writing: "The Illuminati is grateful for Facebook's dedication to our goals.
"Many pages claim to represent us but are not authorised by our organisation.
"Some have attempted to defraud our members by demanding payment for membership – a practice prohibited by our council."
The "Illuminati" Facebook page has 380,000 likes and its Twitter account followed by 106,000.
The organisation - which has the motto "we are always watching out for you" warns that anyone using the same branding and looking for donations is a scam.
It repeatedly reminds members not to send money on its websites, newsletters and various social media profiles.
But those who have requested to become part of the "elite" cult will have recently received marketing emails from the organisation's "department of distribution" or DIDOS for short.
Each email offers the chance to buy various Illuminati branded merchandise.
This includes jewellery in the shape of the infamous All-seeing eye as well as pendants and t-shirts.
An Illuminati talisman will set you back $60.00.

Interestingly, the organisation points out that members should be wary of selling their souls as they are not a form of exchange for membership.
One newslettter advises: "Human or animal sacrifices go against our core tenets and are prohibited.
"While many have attributed such actions to our members, these connections are false. There is no requirement to sell one’s soul to join our organisation."
Facebook have been contacted for comment.
