Man dies after horror crash between two jet skis near popular Scots holiday park
The man was airlifted to hospital yesterday evening
A MAN has tragically died after a horror crash between two jet skis near a popular Scots holiday park.
Emergency services raced to Auchenlarie Holiday Park near Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway. yesterday evening.
Coastguard, police and air ambulance crews descended on the area at around 5.35pm after the alarm was raised.
A 42-year-old man was hurt when the jet ski he was riding on collided with another.
He fell into the sea off the coast of the holiday park and was helped ashore but suffered serious injuries.
Coastguard crews from Prestwick then transferred him to Mossyard where he was airlifted to hospital.
The air ambulance took the man to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
However, police have now confirmed that the man tragically passed away in hospital this morning.
They added that his next of kin are aware and no one else was injured as a result of the incident.
Police have launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the smash and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Graeme Robertson said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family and everyone affected by this tragic incident.
“Our enquiries to establish what led to this collision are ongoing and at an early stage.
“I would urge anyone with information regarding what happened, or if they were present and saw anything to come forward.

A coastguard spokesman previously said: “It was an incident in relation to a jet ski. A man had fallen off and was injured.
“He was recovered ashore and was taken to Mossyard where the Helimed took him to Glasgow hospital.
“The coastguard was just there to facilitate the transfer from the location of the incident to Mossyard.”
Auchenlarie Holiday Park is described as having “direct access to a secluded beach overlooking picturesque Wigtown Bay”.
