RISHI Sunak’s ultimatum to meddling Euro judges over illegal immigration will be backed by millions. If he really means it, we’ll be among them.

The public is increasingly enraged by border cheats landing illegally to begin new lives at taxpayers’ expense.

The PM rightly called it the “defining challenge of our age”.

And if the ECHR tries again to thwart our Rwanda deterrent, Mr Sunak MUST come good on his warning that he would finally pull us out of that court.

Doing so will be a minefield.

But Britain does not need finger-wagging Strasbourg edicts to maintain a human rights regime which is the envy of the world.

The rest of the PM’s big speech exposed a stark contrast with Labour.

He clearly grasps the dangers the next five years present — and the vast opportunities for transformation through AI.

Labour is mainly looking backwards to settle old scores: Renationalisation. Returning union powers axed in the Thatcher era.

Party grandees privately admit they are woefully short on ideas — and judgement, even embracing a turncoat whose right-wing views shocked the Tory colleagues she sat with until last week.

Rishi’s speech would have been a commanding one . . . were he not 20 per cent behind in the polls and up against the strongest force ranged against any party after 14 years in power:

The public’s desire to give someone else a go.

INEVITABLY, Labour finally deserts Israel.

After a kicking from Muslim voters two weeks ago — and having seen President Biden buckle first — Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy wants to halt UK arms sales to Tel Aviv.

Labour used to insist Israel had a right to defend itself.

Now it seeks to handicap the crucial final assault on Rafah.

No one is unmoved by civilian deaths in Gaza.

But this is war against a genocidal, racist, terrorist tyranny which will not surrender.

There is no future for Gaza or Israel with Hamas in it.

What does Lammy want to happen?

His answer appears to be, “er, not this”.

It is a capitulation to left-wing protest. Not serious foreign policy.

NO sane person believes in 72 genders.

It is shameful that woke teachers indoctrinate kids with such cobblers.

New guidance will order them to concede it is a “contested” belief.

Why not just ban it?

Like the Government is banning civil servants from wearing virtue-signalling rainbow lanyards around Whitehall.

And where was this welcome war on woke years ago when we first needed it?

Many Tories were too busy jumping on the bandwagon.
