Teacher Rebecca Joynes, 30, wrote note to pupil saying ‘every inch of you is perfect’ before having his baby, court told

Joynes is accused of having a sexual relationship with two pupils

TEACHER Rebecca Joynes wrote a note to a pupil saying “every inch of you is perfect” before having his baby, a court has heard.

Joynes, 30, is on trial accused of six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, including two while being a person in a position of trust.

Joynes has denied all charges.

The allegations relate to her relationship with two students – identified as Boy A and Boy B – whilst a teacher at a Greater Manchester School, including one whom she fell pregnant with while awaiting trial on bail.

Joynes later gave birth to a daughter she had with Boy B.

Today the jury was read a note she’d written to the boy in which she described him as “perfect”.

She wrote: “I know we are struggling right now and are both extremely stressed.

“But I really hope we can work something out to keep this going for a while longer.

“Every inch of you is perfect and you are all I ever dream about.”

Giving evidence today, Joynes claimed they had first had sex five days after she had been sacked from her job – – and was no longer in position of trust.

Joe Allman, prosecuting, asked Joynes if she had been sexually attracted to the boy when he was 15, but she said “it wasn’t like that”.

He also asked if she’d found him “sexy” when he was that old, or just when it “became legal” for them to have sex.

She said: “I don’t think I did at the time it happened either, it just grew into that.”

The prosecution allege they first had sexual contact several months earlier when Boy B went to her apartment and she “straddled him and kissed him on the mouth”.

But she denied this and said he only went there after they had discussed “helping him with his maths”.

She claimed she’d had no “romantic or sexual” intent, although it’s alleged they later went on to have sex around 30 times.

Joynes denied she had been “controlling” and “obsessive” during her relationship with Boy B and threatening to kill herself if he ended it.

But she admitted they had “struggled” while deciding whether they should keep the baby or not.

She said she had been in “love” with him and the jury was read the note she’d written to the boy in which she described him as “perfect”.

Earlier, Allman accused Joynes of ignoring “red lights” and starting a relationship with Boy B after she had already been arrested and bailed over Boy A.

He also accused her of answering “no comment” in police interviews so she could present a story that could be “built” for the jury later.

Joynes denies any sexual activity took place with Boy A and that she only had sex with Boy B after he’d turned 16 and she had been sacked.

The prosecution allege she “groomed” Boy A after he was able to guess her number during a maths class.

The jury previously heard how they exchanged messages on WhatsApp and Joynes admits buying him a £345 Gucci Belt from Selfridges at the Trafford Centre and then taking hm back to her apartment.

She claims she made it clear to Boy A that they wouldn’t be having sex and he slept on the couch.

But police launched an investigation after rumours spread around her school and she was subsequently arrested and suspended from her job.

Following questioning, she was released on bail on condition she did not have unsupervised contact with under-18s.

Joynes was charged over Boy A and appeared in court in August 2022 and the prosecution claims it then emerged she had “brazenly” pursued a long-term sexual relationship with Boy B.

But she claims that the sexual contact only took place after Boy B had tuned 16 and she had been sacked from her job in July 22, so she was no longer in a position of trust.

Joynes denies two counts of sexual activity with Boy A, two counts of sexual activity with Boy B, and two counts of sexual activity with Boy B while being a person in a position of trust.
