A ONE-year-old girl has tragically died after she was hit by a Land Rover in a car park at a Scottish church.
The baby was toddling in the car park when she was struck by the vehicle.
Emergency crews raced to the scene at Plymouth Brethren Christian Church in Aberdeenshire last night.
The fatal collision happened at around 7.45pm on Eigie Road in Balmedie.
She was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, but she was tragically pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the car, a 40-year-old male, was uninjured.
Police have launched a probe into the incident after descending on the area last night.
Numerous police vehicles were spotted parked outside the church as investigators carried out enquiries.
Anyone who saw something, or may know something, has been urged to contact officers.
Inspector Scott Deans, from Roads Policing, said: “At this time, our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this tragic incident.

“Our investigation into the circumstances remain ongoing.
"We’d like to thank the wider Balmedie community for their patience and understanding as officers carry out their enquiries in the area.
“Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 3390 of 15 May, 2024.”
Flowers have been left at the scene of the incident as locals pay tribute to the stricken baby.
Rod Buckley, a member of Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, told the Scottish Sun that they are supporting the family of the baby girl after the tragic incident.

Plymouth Brethren members attend regular church services each Sunday.
He said: "Sadly, we can confirm that an incident at the Plymouth Brethren Meeting Hall car park in Balmedie involving a single vehicle and a young child happened last evening.
"The young child was tragically pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.
"We are a very supportive church, and we are giving the family and friends of the people involved in the accident the help they need.
"On behalf of the church, I would like to thank the emergency first responders who have been very professional and compassionate in their response."
