Brit shoe shop sends Donald Trump a free pair of brogues, a condom and a letter – and claim he sent a priceless reply

A BRASH British shoe shop which sent Donald Trump a pair of £100 brogues claim the president wrote back to them himself – to refuse the gift with a typically colourful reply.

Lancashire shoe firm Goodwin Smith have sent their shoes to world leaders on more than one occasion as part of an ambitious marketing attempt.

They were quick to send the newly-elected president a pair of brogues, along with a letter describing him as “one of the lads with swagger”.

The Brit shoemakers have since shared a letter with the White House logo online, which they insist is a reply from the president himself.

The alleged reply, which has gone viral on social media, sees Donald Trump offer the firm his “deepest apologies” for returning the pair of brogues – though he appeared to keep the condom they’d also included in the care package.

Just days after Donald Trump was elected in November, the Lancashire firm sent Trump a pair of shoes in his size, along with the contraceptive.

Their letter read: “Congratulations on your victory.

“The Goodwin Smith team applauds you sir. You are truly one of the lads with swagger.

“As a sign of admiration we have provided you with a pair of our finest British Oxford brogues – the Barely Black.

“It’s a shoe to help anybody through their first week at work.

“We know it can be tough.

“We’ve gone with a size 12 (because we Googled it).”

The shoemakers claim the president returned the brogues to them, but decided to keep the condom.

Trump’s “reply” reads: “Your letter and gift reached me in the Oval Office.

“Thank you for thinking of me and your kind gesture. It means a lot.

“Thank you also for your kind words on my presidency.”

Trump went on to praise the firm for describing him as “one of the lads with swagger”, before quoting his 1987 book, The Art of the Deal.
