David Cameron admits he misses Larry after revealing his last act as PM was taking a selfie with the No10 cat
He admitted he wanted a picture with the tabby for his upcoming autobiography.
DAVID Cameron has revealed one of his final acts before leaving Downing Street was taking a selfie with Larry the cat.
The former Prime Minister left Number 10 in July after the UK voted to leave the EU and admits he wanted a picture with the tabby for his upcoming autobiography.
Asked if he missed the ‘Chief Mouser’, who now resides with new PM Theresa May, he said: “I do a bit actually, he had a habit, in the morning, he’d be in my chair, and he’d look so incredibly relaxed that you felt you couldn’t really move him.
“Although actually eventually you had to. But I’m sure he’s being well looked after.
“There was cat hair everywhere! One of the last things I did was take a cat selfie before I left.
“I’ll be saving that one for my book! I’m holding onto that one.”
It comes after David, 50, was forced to deny hating the cat in his final PMQs in July, during which he showed another photograph of him cuddling the feline.
Despite hopes his upcoming autobiography will be filled with frank revelations from his time in charge, he said it will simply be a “description of all the things I was up to”.
Asked how he felt his successor Theresa, 60, was “dealing with” President Trump, 70, David said she’s doing an “amazing job”.
The Tory leader has been criticised for not initially speaking out against his controversial travel ban and for allowing him to hold her hand during a trip to the White House last month.
David said: “It’s quite right to have a strong relationship. I thought it was a really good visit. She’s doing a great job.”
On life now he’s not PM David said: “It’s a very different pace!”
Speaking of his plans he said: “Well I’m writing the book. And I’m going to be President of Alzheimer’s Research UK, working with the national civil service, and I’ll be doing some other things, bits a pieces.”
He added he was “very proud” of his wife’s new fashion collection Cefinn: “It’s going to be great. She’s working really hard, it’s going to be exciting.”
David was speaking as his mum Mary, 82, was awarded the Mother Knows Best award at the Oldie of the Year Awards.
He said: “I’m incredibly proud of my mother. She was an absolute role model to me. She really imbrued in me this idea of public service.
“She was a magistrate for about 30 years. She’s just a wonderful woman, so it’s really lovely to bring her to something like this, because I’ve been to a few events like this in my lifetime, but never one with my mum so that’s really nice.”
