Motoring bosses slam councils hiking parking fees this year as we reveal NINE out ten councils aim to raise charge
The Local Government Information Unit said the local authorities had no choice because of their lack of funds
MOTORING chiefs hit out as it was claimed nine in ten councils aim to raise parking fees this year.
The Local Government Information Unit said the authorities had no alternative given the huge holes in their accounts.
The AA’s public affairs spokesman Luke Bosdet said: “If they intend to ramp up the pace of increase, it is a very worrying development for drivers but also shops that rely on people being able to park near them.”
The Sun revealed in December that councils were making £4million a day from parking fines.
