‘Quite the wake-up’ – Iconic Dublin hotel evacuated after blaze breaks out as US TV icon among guests rushed to safety

The US actor praised the DFB after the incident

AMERICAN TV star Henry Winkler has been evacuated from a Dublin Hotel blaze.

The TV icon, most famous for his role as The Fonz in sitcom Happy Days, was among staff and guests rushed out of the Shelbourne Hotel in a fire scare on Wednesday morning.

: "When I heard the fire alarm I thought it was the clock radio.

"I thought somebody had set the alarm before we got there - like another guest.

The couple were not able to check in due to the fire.

Although the staff were being a "great" help, it is not clear when they would be able to get into their room.

She said: "Safety first so I think they’re just waiting for the all clear.

“We think it will take them an hour or so to get sorted once they get the all clear.”
