New Google Maps feature lets you save your journeys and share them with friends via your smartphone
Navigation feature lets you follow other people’s favourite places too
GOOGLE Maps has added a brand new feature that lets you save routes and destinations and share them on your phone.
It lets you follow other people's favourite places too, just like subscribing to a Spotify list.
"Now that we’ve got the world mapped, it’s your turn to map your world with Lists — from local hot spots to bucket list destinations world’s away," the company said.
It's let users save places of interest like favourite restaurants or your home address to make planning your journey easier.
But this new list feature means they are saved in a more organised manner.
For the privacy conscious, you don't have to share your favourite spots, it's only if you decide to save them in shareable folders.

Google is rolling out the update to both iOS and Android devices.
You will be able to see an option to save a location after searching for it using Google Maps or the Chrome browser.
You can add it to a selection of folders and later share with your friends.
The lists you follow are with you wherever you take Google Maps and can be seen when you're offline.
It follows a similar addition from Facebook, which will make getting recommendations for restaurants or shopping much simpler.
How to save your favourite places in Google Maps
Simply open the Google Maps app and find that breakfast spot you’ve been meaning to try.
Tapping on the place name and then the “Save” icon adds the place to one of several pre-set lists like “Want to Go” or “Favorites.”
You can also add the restaurant to a new list that you name yourself.
To recall the lists you’ve created, go to Your Places (in the side menu) and then open the saved tab.
Icons for the places you’ve saved to lists will appear on the map itself, so you’ll always know whether one of your must-try foodie spots is nearby.
Tap the share button to get a link and send by text, email or over Facebook or Twitter.
Once you send a link, recipients can tap “Follow” to pull up the list from Your Places whenever they need it.
