Who was Oliver Dearlove, how did Trevor Timon kill him with one punch and what has happened since?
Oliver's mother told a court her son's killer 'may as well have used a knife or a gun'
IT WAS a night out that ended in tragedy - one young man dead and another charged with his murder.
Oliver Dearlove's final moments were relived in court as prosecutors told how jealous thug Trevor Timon felled the London banker with one fatal punch.
What do we know about that night and what has happened since?
Who was Oliver Dearlove?
Oliver Dearlove, 30, worked as a relationship manager for Duncan Lawrie Private Bank in London’s Victoria. He had previously worked for the Queen’s bank Coutts.
He had living in New Eltham with his long-term girlfriend Claire Wheatley.
She said: "We were trying to get some money together so we could buy a house.
"We had big plans. We were planning on having a baby as well.
"He was the kindest person. He was the most amazing person I've ever met and ever known. I'm so lucky to have known him."
Oliver's mother also remembered him as the "perfect" son who had "so much more life to live."
On the night he was fatally attacked he had been on a lads' day out with friends from university.
Who is Trevor Timon?
Jobless plasterer Trevor Timon, 31, has a long history of violence against both men and women.
In 2006 he was convicted of damaging property and the following year was handed a community order after a stun gun was found in his bedroom.
He threatened a bus driver with a golf club in 2008 and two years later savagely battered a woman outside a pub.
After insulting and threatening her, he knocked her unconscious when the victim asked him “What are you doing, acting like your brother?”
His last conviction for violence came in 2011 when he attacked a barmaid and smashed five windows of a pub he was ejected from.
Prosecutor Anthony Orchard QC told his trial Timon showed “a penchant for violence in a public setting.”
He added :“He makes the threats and then punches. He’s fully aware that in punching someone he’s going to cause really serious injury.
“It’s the level of violence we say is him knowing exactly how strong he is when he punches.”
Timon's older brother Wesley, 32, is also a convicted killer who is serving life for leading a drug-crazed gang who slashed and stabbed 19-year-old David Wheaton to death 12 years ago.
The attack came in very similar circumstance to Oliver Dearlove's death - after Wesley accusing the teenager of chatting up his girlfriend at a nightclub.
Trevor and Wesley were brought up with their younger brother and sister by single mum Claire Timon, 52, in Plumstead, South-East London.
One source told The Sun : “Trevor and Wesley are blood brothers in every respect. They are violent nutters who should be left to rot in prison. The world is a better place without them.”
Why did Trevor Timon punch Dearlove?
Trevor Timon attacked Oliver Dearlove during a night out in Blackheath, South-East London, in August 2016.
He punched the banker "as hard as he could" at the base of the skull, rupturing an artery in his neck.
Mr Dearlove, 30, died in hospital less than 24 hours later.
The court heard that in the lead up to the attack, Oliver Dearlove began speaking to a woman without shoes.
Timon flew into a rage because he had earlier splashed out £175 buying the woman and her pals champagne.
Prosecutor Anthony Orchard QC told the court that Oliver had started talking to her about how her feet were sore, with the woman telling him that it was her first night out since having a baby four weeks earlier.
Mr Orchard told jurors: "She recalls Oliver Dearlove said to them all, ‘She had a baby four weeks ago, doesn’t she look well?’.
"She got out some pictures of her baby. She recalls Oliver Dearlove was very polite and told her how beautiful her baby was."
But during the conversation, Timon is alleged to have become "agitated", asking the men "what are you saying?" and "who the f*** are you boys?"
Timon, 31, is alleged to then have threatened to knock Mr Dearlove out - the defendant then punching him.
When one of the women asked Timon why he had punched his victim, he replied: “I’m p***ed off”, the jury heard.
What has happened since that night?
Trevor Timon was questioned by police after the attack, and eventually charged with murder and common assault.
He was cleared of murder by a jury at the Old Bailey after a judge told them they had to decide if Timon meant to cause the victim serious harm.
Timon had earlier admitted the lesser charge of manslaughter. He was jailed for six years with an additional five years on extended licence.
Judge Mark Dennis QC told him: "This was a senseless death that occurred as a result of an act borne out of a deep flaw in your character, which has seen you in the past display unnecessary aggressive and violent conduct towards others when for reasons best known to you, you became annoyed or had otherwise wound yourself up.
"Oliver Dearlove was a young man of fine character with a long and promising future ahead of him.
"His loss in such a senseless circumstances has caused untold misery for his family and those close to him."
Before sentence was passed Mr Dearlove's mother Joy Wright told the court her son's killer "may as well have used a gun or a knife".
She said: "Timon punched Oli with such ferocity that he was gone before he hit the pavement."
Mr Dearlove's girlfriend, nurse Claire Wheatley, broke down in tears as she told of watching her "handsome and amazing" boyfriend's life slipping away in intensive care.
She said her heart had not been broken but "obliterated" by what Timon had done.
She saaid: "Losing Oli has left me with nothing. I have not only lost my boyfriend, the man I was meant to marry and start a family and future with - I have also lost my best friend.
"I will never be able to find it in my heart to forgive the actions of that one individual because I feel to do so would be to accept what happened.
"I cannot accept what happened and I cannot accept that one punch took away the love of my life in a heartbeat or that one person took it upon themselves to take someone's life in their own hands, literally."
