Brits are suffering from immigrants taking their jobs for half the price – we need an immigration deal that works for everyone not just bosses who want cut-price labour
The current situation is unsustainable so it's wonderful that we've left the single market
Jobs scramble
FOR too long our open borders have been a magnet for cheap labour across Europe.
The result has been a spectacular jobs boom, for which the Tories and George Osborne in particular can take credit.
But for the lowest-paid, the scramble for work has been tough, and many Brits have found their pay undercut by cheaper foreign recruits.
Staggeringly, the number of Romanians and Bulgarians in the UK workforce has doubled to nearly a third of a million since controls were lifted in 2014.
The situation is unsustainable, which is why we applaud the PM’s determination to get Britain out of the single market and take back control of our borders.
The UK needs an immigration policy that works for all Brits, not just those who want to get rich on cut-price labour.
Smog of war
THERE’S no clearer example of the chaos and confusion caused by crackpot climate change policies.
For 15 years motorists were told buying diesel cars would help the environment.
As Chancellor, Gordon Brown even cut taxes to encourage motorists to go green.
Now scientists have found diesel fumes are a major factor in air pollution leading to asthma, heart attacks and cancer.
Expensive scrappage schemes might take a few diesels off the road, but it will take years for the cars to go completely.
Diesel owners and van drivers must not pay for politicians’ rank incompetence.
Oh Lordy!
THE EU referendum was a once-in-a- generation display of direct democracy.
Millions of Brits who had given up on politics came out to cast their votes.
So how ironic that the House of Lords, the most out-of-touch, cronyist, anti-democratic institution in Britain, now threatens to derail the Brexit bill.
Worse still, it’s a Lib Dem peer bragging he and his fellow Lords will delay Britain’s EU exit.
The Lib Dems are a political irrelevance who used to support scrapping the House of Lords.
Now they’re just a hypocritical disgrace.
Space cadets
NO country receiving foreign aid from Britain should have its own space programme. It’s that simple.
So how can India set a record for the most satellites launched on a single space mission while still receiving millions in taxpayers’ cash?
The Government pledged to stop handouts going to India, but a study found our money is still funnelled there.
The PM urgently needs to put a rocket up the backside of the Department for International Development.
