Jay, 19, vanished without a trace in Tenerife last week, baffling search crews as they scoured the landscape for clues.

A shocking new development then came to light as Mayor Emilio Jose Navarro said local cops received reports about Jay watching the tournament "on the coast".

He said local police interviewed people that could have seen him, according to .

The mayor added: "Some people think he may have been in the coastal area of the municipality, they saw him celebrating in a bar over the days they have been Euro cup matches."

The judicial police are investigating the city hall security cameras, which, Navarro said, are more for tourism purposes than security.

He continued: "They are working also with the company that handles those cameras, it's the Guardia Civil that is handling that."

Jay was staying at a Tenerife Airbnb where he partied before he went missing.

Investigator Mark William Thomas gave a description of the two “key witnesses” who last saw Jay at their cottage.

He spoke to the owner of the rental property and a number of witnesses; including Jay’s friends, who gave him information.

Both of the men are black, in their 30s or early 40s, and were not at the NRG festival, Mark said.

He threatened to release an image of one of the men if they did not come forward.

The witnesses were seen speaking with the teenager outside the Papagayo nightclub last Monday morning, before driving him back to their accommodation, Mark said.

One of the men was described as around 6ft tall, quite stocky, with short dark hair. He wore an orange wristband and drank Hennessy cognac.

Mark explained how the men were "not assisting" and that the family were "desperate" for them to come forward as witnesses.

He said the group sat outside a club after the night ended and that witnesses claim Jay seemed "quite in control of himself."
