JAY AIRBNB PROBE

Jay Slater cops spend two hours in holiday flat that Brit teen vanished from as mystery investigation continues

Jay's family were 'blindsided' on Sunday when cops axed the search

COPS in Tenerife today searched the Airbnb apartment where Jay Slater stayed with two men hours before he vanished.

Detectives spent two hours searching the remote holiday let in Rural de Teno park, northwest Tenerife.

Inside the Airbnb Jay went to with two men

After going to a rave in Playa de las Americas, apprentice bricklayer Jay headed to Masca with two British men in the early hours

The 19-year-old, from Lancashire, shared a final Snapchat from their Airbnb of a hand holding a cigarette at 7.30am.

Jay then tried to make his way back to his holiday accommodation - an 11-hour walk away.

But at around 8.50am he made a final frantic call to friend Lucy, telling her he was lost in the "middle of nowhere" with no water and had just one per cent battery on his phone.

It sparked a major search for the teen involving drones, sniffer dogs and helicopters.

But after almost two weeks, cops dramatically called off the search on Sunday.

Yet today, two plain-clothed officers wearing blue forensic style shoe coverings were sent to scan the £40-a-night two-bedroom cottage called Casa Abuela Tina for clues.

Investigators said the two mystery Brits Jay partied with at the Airbnb were "not relevant" to their probe.

So a renewed interest in the flat which Jay left at around 8am on June 17 is an interesting development and raises further questions over the direction of the police investigation.

It comes as Jay's desperate parents say they are still no closer to finding their son despite a crunch meeting with cops today.

Jay Slater’s desperate mum says she’s 'trying to stay positive' after urging Tenerife cops not to give up on her son

Debbie and Warren spent two and a half hours speaking with cops to get an update on the case.

Afterwards a distraught Debbie told The Sun: “It’s a mystery and he’s still missing, we need to just let these guys (the police) get on with it.”

She continued to urge the public to not forget about their son saying: “Let’s keep it going, keep it alive.

“Let them (the police) get on with it, we’ve got to trust in these people.”

Jay’s parents were briefed by detectives at the Civil Guard’s local headquarters in Playa de Las Americas.

The pair arrived at the police station on the popular holiday island at around 2pm.

Speaking from Tenerife, Warren added they would return to the police station “when they ask us to”.

Last wee, the owner of the Airbnb where the men stayed said she has given all the information she had to the police.

Ofelia Hernandez, who owns the holiday let, revealed the pair who rented the accommodation were friendly, booked several days at the cottage, and spent a lot of time inside the property.

She said she saw Jay walking off on his own uphill in the vast mountainous area near Masca on the morning he vanished.
