Emma had managed to flag down police officers while clutching a clump of her own hair after raging Haslam dragged her to the ground in a pub.

The cop, who was off duty at the time, has now been sacked following a disciplinary hearing into the rampage on December 30, 2014.

She had been suspended on full pay for two years.

DC Chris Keightley, from Professional Standards, told the hearing how the arresting officer stated she appeared "extremely intoxicated, her speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet".

Haslam was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and taken to Hartlepool custody office following the shocking attack.

As she was being detained, she shouted "f****** slag", the hearing was told.

Victim Emma had gone to check on Haslam in the ladies toilet at the Stockton pub in Redcar when she flipped.

The cop lunged at Emma and pulled her to the ground by her hair in what Haslam claimed was "self-defence" because she believed the victim was rifling through someone's pocket.

She was convicted of common assault and being drunk and disorderly while off duty at Newcastle Magistrates' Court last year.

The hearing heard how Haslam, who did not attend today, was suffering from stress and mental health issues at the time of the attack due to her marriage breaking down.

She had started abusing alcohol, but said she hoped to rebuild her career in the police force and put the incident behind her.

Iain Spittal, Chief Constable for Cleveland Police, found Haslam's behaviour amounted to gross misconduct.

He told the hearing: "The witnesses paint a clear picture of PC Haslam being the woman who was drunk, aggressive and violent.

"It's my firmly held view that the public would expect an officer that has behaved in his manner and convicted of a criminal assault is removed from the service.

"The public would be rightly outraged if she remained in the service.

"PC Haslam will be dismissed with immediate effect."
