A Secret Service spokesman told press: "The Secret Service can confirm that an object appears to have been thrown at the motorcade this afternoon (Friday).

"We are investigating at this time and don’t have anything further."

that the unknown object hit another vehicle as the motorcade drove from Palm Beach International Airport to the Mar-a-Lago resort.

that the object was the size of a baseball and was later found at the scene.

The Sun has contacted the Secret Service to clarify if anyone has been questioned or arrested over the incident.

The object did not hit Donald Trump's car, which has been nicknamed The Beast.

The 4.5-tonne car was built on the same Kodiak chassis as President Obama’s official ride and will be stuffed full of state-of-the-art features.

Essentially a medical centre encased in a tank but disguised as a limousine, The Beast will be plated in 20cm thick armour strong enough to fend off armour-piercing bullets.

Donald Trump had travelled to Florida with the intention of spending a week in Palm Beach, with the US leader expected to speak at a rally on Saturday.

He is heavily guarded by the Secret Service, who have even provided him with an encrypted phone to tweet from.

The Secret Service has been pushed out from the shadows and into the spotlight before, with one bodyguard falsely rumoured to have a fake arm to disguise the fact he had an automatic weapon under his jacket.

Trump's son Barron will be constantly watched by bodyguards, with the cost to protect the Trump family estimated to be USD$1million.
